A panicked shriek, the mimic jumping where she stood as she watched with a trembling figure at the words he had spoken. A daredevil of a person, she had come to know. A frightening fact.
Her tone was almost at a desperate whine, pleading with caramel hues.
❝N-No! I would not be able to catch you! Rail!❞
“Haha, that’s true–! You’re a tiny little thing, Copycat ♪” He meant that in the kindest of ways, but perhaps that was already evident in his playful tone in his words. The male knew people of a short stature like her, so it wasn’t as if he was wanting to be mean.
“Alright, alright… I suppose I’ll get down now to make ya happy!” With that, the ex-prince lifted himself up, hands grabbing at the branch he was hanging from, pushing himself up before letting his body hang from just his fingertips and landing down on his feet.
Oh, ow ow ow– That landing hurt his feet! Maybe he was too high up after all.
❝R-Rail! If you climb any higher in that tree you are going to fall!❞
“I’m not too high! You’re worrying too much~!” And he says this all the while leaning his body backwards to hang upside down, waving a hand cheerfully to the girl down below. “What, scared I’m gonna fall and break my arm?”
❝S-Surprised… Perhaps not but… I will certainly be worried…❞
The words were not a lie, yet they held a number of varying truths. The very thought of him accepting such abuse was something the mimic couldn’t wrap her head around, yet again she attempted to quell this disturbing image with the mantra of ‘to each their own’. Surely Rail had his reasons and she had no place to question them, regardless of how strange she thought they were. Worried for his well being…
And worried for his mentality. Had he perhaps been hit one too many times?
The girl scolded herself for even coming up with such a ridiculous notion.
“Worried? About me?”
That in itself was a little odd to the programmer– But ahh, he had to remind himself that most people didn’t show the indifference that those around him usually did. His reckless nature and his odd interests were normal in the eyes of those that dealt with him daily, and poor Copycat… Well, she hadn’t known him for very long!! Rail hummed for a moment, rubbing his chin as the studied the shorter girl. Surely, she had to be thinking something weird now… Best to distract her in that case, no?
“Well, even if I did get hurt, I’d be fine the next day…” The male mused aloud at first, though his thoughts trailed off into nothing once a thought occurred to him.
It was that thought that made the male waved a hand to gain Copycat’s attention, perhaps also to convince her to come closer.
“Oh, oh, you know what–?” Rail spoke. “We should go get some ice cream! I saw a store selling some for cheap, actually. It’s on me!!”
She could only question where the idea of anyone enjoying being hit would come from, seeing as she knew the pain from fists connecting to skin rather well, yet the mimic could only assume the saying ‘to each their own’ came into play here. The imitator couldn’t quite bring herself to argue with the boy, seeing as to how his face lit up upon the subject being mentioned. Perhaps it was better not to ask.
❝I cannot say I agree but… If it gets you that excited, perhaps it is better that I not say anything in regards to it…❞
“It’s okay, don’t worry about it!!”
Of course, the programmer was aware it was an odd thing to say with such a smile on his face– He didn’t expect Copycat to understand, or anyone for that matter. Worrying about the opinions of others never was the male’s style, more or less living his life however he pleased and completely disregarding others for the most part. It sounded selfish, but living a life based on following what interested him was a rather dangerous way to live more-so.
“Juuuust don’t be surprised or anything if you find me beaten up some day, you know? Heheh!”
❝Then… Please ease my curiosity but… Why did you want him to punch you? Your reasoning lacks… Quite a bit of sense, Rail.❞
More than that, it didn’t make any bit of sense. Rail was an odd character, indeed.
It’s okay, Copycat, no one understands Rail either aside from his assistant– And even that person doesn’t like his attitude towards the subject. “Because it’s fun!! It’s fun, isn’t it? ♪” Rail chirped. “I think it’s great! It just gets my blood boiling out of excitement!” Not the kind of excitement Copycat would probably think of though, fortunately for her.
You wanted to get into a fight? Do you have some pent up frustration?❞
"Me? Nope!!“ The raven beamed, offering a cheerful grin to join his carefree words. "I’m the most stressless, neutral guy you’re ever gonna find! I don’t like fighting– But I really did want him to punch me!”
So they were looking for a dark red bag of marbles, it seemed practical enough albeit a bit vague. A nod of the mimic’s head silently gave her understanding and already she was off in search of the missing possession that led them to the park where he had said he’d lost it. Caramel hues wandered about in search of the bag of marbles, wondering mindlessly why he would be so worried over a bag of glass beads.
Some things had sentimental value, she supposed. Who was she to question it anyway? The imitator had offered her hand in finding the missing bag and so she would— -
❝Ah, over there. Is that it? The bag of marbles those kids are playing with. It looks like a dark red color.❞
Verdant hues glanced around as the programmer walked behind the shorter girl, seemingly casual despite the true problem behind losing something so valuable. As intelligent as the guy was, he could act so very stupid on occasion. Losing something like that could result in killing a child–! But considering he had done far worse than killing a random person on accident, the thought barely phased him.
Rather, he seemed pretty calm with his hands resting behind his head, humming thoughtfully under his breath as he kept an eye out for his bag of marbles.
Though once the other spoke up again, he was pulled out of his thoughts, following the direction in which she was gesturing to see some children playing with them. For a moment, Rail was silent, merely watching how oblivious they seemed to the true danger they were in… But soon enough he nodded nonetheless.
“Ah, yep, those are it.” He confirmed, starting to head over in the children’s direction. “I should get them back now before those guys accidentally kill themselves.”
